Yesterday I attended the Media Expo 2009 in Columbus, OH put on by Industrial Video Corporation. It was held at the Aladdin Shrine Center on Stelzer Rd (across from Easton Town Center).
It was a small but standard media expo with fairly good representation from most of the larger video related companies. I always enjoy getting my hands on the equipment as opposed to clicking through PDF's and downloading clips. Since this was my first time at the event I can't say how well it was attended compared to previous years, but there seemed to be a small but steady stream of people flowing in and out.
The exhibitors that caught my eye were Panasonic, Sony, AJA, and Lowel. I was slightly disappointed with Canon's representation - I've been waiting to hear when Canon is going to get in the game with a true tapeless broadcast HD video camera. The only reps they had were for their lenses and projectors, they had no information on their camcorders.
Panasonics AG-HPX300 P2 Camcorder with AVC-Intra was probably the most impressive floor demo.
Over all, it was worth the trip to have some questions answered and demo some upcoming gear.
